Gifts in a Will

A gift in your will is one of the easiest ways to create your legacy with TGen, strengthening efforts to bring earlier diagnoses and smarter treatments to patients for years to come. You can provide for your loved ones AND support TGen with a gift in your will.

It costs you nothing now to give in this way.

Flexible

You can alter your gift or change your mind at any time and for any reason.

Lasting Impact

Your gift will positively impact the lives of future generations of patients and their families.

Here are several simple ways to include a gift in your will:

Specific gift in your will

This is a gift of a specific sum of money, item of property (collections, art, books, jewelry and so on) or percentage of your estate.

Residuary gift in your will

This is a common way of leaving a gift to charity while leaving the majority of assets to loved ones. For example, “I give the balance of my estate (or some percentage of the remainder of my estate) after all other bequests are satisfied, to the TGen Foundation.”

Contingent gift in your will

This gift is made on a condition that a certain event occurs. This kind of gift is often used to include gifts to charity. For example, “I give $20,000 to my sister, Janet, if she survives me – or, if not, to the TGen Foundation.”

Gifts by Beneficiary Designation

Gifts by beneficiary designation are among the simplest gifts to make. They do not require a visit to a lawyer, they cost you nothing now and you can change your beneficiaries at any time. It’s easy to put your retirement funds, insurance plan, bank account and brokerage accounts to use to save lives through TGen’s leading-edge research for generations to come – and it costs nothing now.

Simply request a change of beneficiary form from your plan administrator and add the TGen Foundation as a full or partial beneficiary. You can often do this by logging into your account online.

Be sure to clearly designate our organization:

Types of Gifts

A gift of retirement funds
This option is becoming increasingly popular. Naming the TGen Foundation as a beneficiary of your retirement plan can be an attractive option for creating a legacy while reducing income and possibly estate taxes for your loved ones.
A gift of life insurance policies
Many of us have life insurance policies that have long since served their purpose. Perhaps you purchased a policy to make sure your children’s tuition needs were accounted for, but now the kids are on their own and doing well. Or, perhaps you have a policy your parents purchased for you years ago. These policies can make a wonderful gift to the TGen Foundation.
• You can name TGen a full, partial or contingent beneficiary.
• You may sign over a fully paid policy. You will be allowed a tax deduction for your generosity.
A gift of funds remaining in your bank accounts, brokerage accounts or a certificate of deposit (CD)
This is one of the easiest ways to create your legacy of saving lives for generations to come. The next time you visit your bank, you can name the TGen Foundation (Tax ID: 33-1092191) as the beneficiary of a checking or savings bank account, a CD or a brokerage account. When you do, you’ll help shape the future of health care and precision medicine.
Donor advised fund residuals
When you establish a DAF or update your succession plans for your existing DAF, we hope you will consider naming TGen as a beneficiary/successor of your account or a portion of your account value to create your legacy of saving lives.
